Helping the local food service sector transition to low carbon operations would entail the cooperation of not just hotels and restaurants, but also of entities involved in food production such as agriculture and farming. This is why the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines’ The Sustainable Diner: A Key Ingredient for Sustainable Tourism project, Precision Agriculture under the LM10 Corporation, and Pitaya Family, Inc. would greatly help in reinforcing the concept of sustainable consumption and production in the country.

Founded in 2012, cultivating and building opportunities in the agriculture and food-related sectors of the Philippines has always been the goal of LM10 Corporation. Committed to supporting local farmers and independent firms through advanced technological solutions and machineries, LM10 believes that bringing people and technology together would drive business innovation in the agriculture sector. Precision Agriculture is the farming subsidiary of LM10 Corporation that focuses on the production of high value and extensive crops, fruits, and vegetables. Together with WWF-Philippines, they will provide the technical expertise for their partner farms for the production of a stable supply of the right quality of local produce for the partner restaurants of the project.

Similarly, the Pitaya Group would provide coordination and marketing assistance between interested restaurants and participating farmers in order to properly supply the right agricultural products to the burgeoning local demand. They would also continuously look for potential local partner farms to develop, to maximize the agricultural land in the country.

The Sustainable Diner team is looking forward to future collaborative work with LM10 Corporation and Pitaya Group throughout the 3-year duration of this project!

The Sustainable Diner project, under WWF-Philippines’ Sustainable Consumption and Production, is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
