The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines launched the Just One Hotels Program last November 8, 2018 during a Christmas tree lighting ceremony held in the main lobby of the Bellevue Hotel Alabang. Present at the event was a delegation from WWF-Philippines, as well as staff and board members of Bellevue Hotels and Resorts.

The Just One Hotels Program is the latest in WWF-Philippines’ efforts against plastic waste. The program complements the #AyokoNgPlastik movement, an anti-plastic project and the organization’s current flagship initiative to address single-use plastics. In line with WWF-Philippines’ commitment against plastics, the Just One Hotels Program seeks to raise funds for the #AyokoNgPlastik movement by giving hotel visitors the option to donate 1 dollar, or 50 pesos, for every night of their stay.

Bellevue Hotels and Resorts is among the first of the Just One hotel program’s corporate partners. The hotel group has already committed to removing plastic water bottles from all rooms throughout their four different properties across the country. “We are delighted to share that we are proactively taking steps toward becoming a true family and eco-friendly hotel group,” said Managing Director of The Bellevue Manila Patrick Chan. Through their partnership with WWF-Philippines, the hotel group is able to reduce their single use plastic bottle consumption by over 50,000 bottles a month, adding up to 600,000 each year.

WWF-Philippines President and CEO Joel Palma welcomed the expanding partnership with The Bellevue group as he reiterated the importance and urgency of addressing single-use plastics. “This is not just for us. This is for the small kids. We’re leaving our children a living planet,” he said. He also hopes that the commitment of Bellevue Hotels and Resorts serves as the first steps of a collaborative movement against single-use plastics and inspiration for more organizations and companies to do their share.
