Pandas and panda supporters alike came together on the 21st of September at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Burgos Circle, for a community event under the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines’ No Plastics in Nature Initiative – a prime time to discuss the plastic problem and its implications to the environment.
As a challenge to the supporters of WWF-Philippines, Czarina Constantino, Project Manager for the No Plastics in Nature Initiative in the Philippines, asked the audience for their own ideas on how they can combat plastic pollution in their own lives. As part of her work in combatting plastic pollution, Constantino promotes sustainable practices with governments, businesses, and individuals alike. The community event was the perfect chance for her to talk directly with those who have been supporting the efforts of WWF-Philippines over the years.

Each community event is a way for WWF-Philippines to meet with both its supporters and the larger conservation community of the Philippines. Present at the event was Pia Ocampo of Pure Oceans Philippines and Julian Rodriguez of Plastic Tides PH, both ocean conservation organizations involved in the fight against plastic pollution. Both speakers shared the work of their respective organizations, and recounted their own personal experiences in their quest to keep the planet clean for future generations.
Over the past year, WWF-Philippines has been meeting with the public to discuss the problem of plastics. In July, the pandas met with their supporters for the second Conservation Conversation, a series of talks aimed at educating the public on today’s biggest environmental problems, where the No Plastics in Nature Initiative was discussed in detail with WWF-Philippines’ supporters. Since then, the organization has continued to engage the public, educating them on the issue of plastics and its implication toward all life on Earth while discussing possible solutions for a cleaner tomorrow.
The past year has seen a vast movement against the single-use plastic problem. WWF-Philippines has recognized the threat of plastic pollution and works hard to empower individuals to take actions in their own lives towards a more sustainable future. Come by the next community event and find out how you can be a protector of our planet, too.
