Training Coordinator
Title of Project: Project COPE (Circular Operations for a Plastic pollution-free Environment)
Base: Manila (Hybrid with occasional travel to project sites: Quezon City, Caloocan City, Cagayan de Oro, Siargao)
Reports to: Lead Trainer
WWF’s No Plastic in Nature (NPIN) Initiative was founded in 2018 and its goal is to stop leakage of plastic by 2030. Our goal is to stop the flow of plastic entering nature by 2030 through: elimination of unnecessary plastic; doubling reuse, recycling and recovery; and ensuring the remaining plastic is sourced responsibly.
To further this initiative, WWF-Philippines shall implement Project COPE (Circular Operations for a Plastic pollution-free Environment) with the goal of helping address the urgent issue of plastic waste pollution by reducing plastic waste leakage into the environment through increased recovery, recycling and reuse. The project pioneers a replicable system that integrates Local Government Units (LGUs) and waste workers, emphasizing social inclusion to foster the development of sustainable and circular solid waste management (SWM) systems across project sites nationwide. With a focus on improving and strengthening SWM systems in targeted locations, the project aims to enhance circularity, establish cooperative models among waste workers, and implement replicable models that strengthen engagement between LGUs and informal waste workers, while enhancing their SWM systems.
